Seven times Tour de Paris, Oct 24 Reuters)-France champion Lance Armstrong will make his final professional look of foreign soil at down under Tour the following year, organizers said.

"Lance Armstrong will participate in his last race for the Professional on international soil of 2011 Santos Tour down under in Adelaide," the organizers said on their website (www.tourdownunder.com.au).

This year the tour de France Armstrong, 39, says that he will participate professionally outside the United States.

23rd overall in its final Tour, he won the race from 1999-2005 Texan have been completed.

"This is an incredible opportunity for Cycling fans around the world of the main gear to Adelaide and is part of history as He competes in the course of his Farewell professional international soil," South Australia Premier Mike Rann said organizers website.

"He is a true hero of the sport and we are happy, he has chosen to compete again in South Australia and international Farewell here.

Armstrong said: "I am excited to compete in my last professional riding outside the United States in the Santos Tour down under.

"Will be my third time of the event, and I'm sure that I will enjoy, as I have the first two times.

Lance Armstrong’s last overseas race as a professional will be at the Tour Down Under in South Australia.

It will be Armstrong’s third time at the Adelaide-based event which has been on the ProTour calendar since 2008.

Armstrong launched his comeback to professional cycling at the 2009 Santos Tour Down Under, and returned in 2010 to debut his new team, Team RadioShack.

 

"The impact Lance has had on the Santos Tour Down Under and the interest in cycling in South Australia has been astounding," said State Premier Mike Rann.

"I would encourage people not to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to watch Lance compete for the very last time here in Adelaide in January."

Armstrong said he was looking forward to returning  to Adelaide. "I'm excited to be competing in my last professional ride outside the US at the Santos Tour Down Under," he said.

"It will be my third time to the event, and Im sure I will enjoy it as much as I have the first two times.

"I will never forget the reception we received in Adelaide when we kicked off the LIVESTRONG global campaign. I look forward to racing and also checking in on the progress in South Australia."

Back in the saddle: Lance Armstrong will race in the Tour down under, in the event of discovery of new UCI World Tour Photo name:

Before its announcement on Sunday it wasunderstood that Armstrong of failure in the Tour de France in July is its competitive swansong in the peloton, even that it will be several promotional competitions in the United States.

Armstrong is one of several people named in doping claims of Floyd Landis, which are the subject of the United States federal investigators, although he still has not been called to give evidence.

"I am excited to compete in my last professional riding outside the United States in the Santos Tour down Under," said Armstrong. "Will be my third time of the event, and I am sure I will enjoy, as I have the first two times.

"You will never forget the reception we received in Adelaide where we kicked off global campaign LiveStrong," he adds. "I'm looking forward to racing and also check the progress in South Australia. "

Tour down Under, which is a sprinter race predominatly so there will be little chance of Armstrong to challenge for the podium, but he chose to use race for his return to professional Cycling in 2009, four years after his retirement from the sport after he won the 2005 Tour de France.
